U.S. grants to help buy Ohio fire units gear to assist breathing

Three area fire departments have been awarded federal grants to purchase new, self-contained breathing apparatus units for their firefighters.
The Lake Township, Rossford, and Troy Township fire departments each recently received an assistance-to-firefighters grant through the Office of Domestic Preparedness, which is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The grants are awarded through a competitive, need-based process, and the U.S. Fire Administration at the Federal Emergency Management Agency processes the applications.
The Lake Township Fire Department received the most money - $171,000 - and plans to buy 40 SCBA units, said Randy Roslin, District Chief for Station No. 1 in Walbridge...
