WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) today announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Department of Homeland Security has awarded a $65,430 grant to the Chambersburg Fire Department for operations and safety.

"Chambersburg's firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep their community safe," said Senator Casey. "This grant will help provide our firefighters with the resources they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve."

The Fire Prevention and Safety Grant was awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, which aims to strengthen the health and safety of the nation's first responders and those they serve in the local community.

The Chambersburg Fire Department responds to call to 744 Garfield Street in Chambersburg around 5:40 p.m. in which no injuries of heavy damage was reported on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
