NY fire department lands $238,000 SAFER grant

The money will be used on recruiting and retention programs

ARLINGTON, N.Y. — The Federal Emergency Management Agency is providing the Arlington Fire District with a $237,800 grant to help recruit volunteer firefighters.

The funding was allocated through FEMA’s Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program.

The program was created by FEMA, within the Department of Homeland Security, to provide funding directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations to help increase the number of trained front-line firefighters available in their communities.
