NORFOLK, Conn. — The Norfolk Lions Clubs Ambulance runs on donations. It doesn’t charge for its services and it isn’t fully funded by the town. Since the organization needs donations to survive, the $5,000 grant it received from an anonymous donor will help support its operations.

Through the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut’s Local Area Fund, the ambulance organization was chosen as one of this year’s beneficiaries. According to Nicole Easley, communication director with the Community Foundation, the Local Area Fund has awarded 10 grants to the Norfolk Lions Club Ambulance since 2005, totaling $66,000.

The Local Area Fund was created with the Community Foundation by a family who wanted to anonymously donate money to non-profit organization that they choose.
