NY county awarded $3.4M for emergency radio upgrade

Most of the money will be used to upgrade the county's four existing relay tower sites by making them taller and sturdier

MALONE, N.Y. — A partnership between Franklin County and the village of Saranac Lake must be formed before the aging communication tower on Mount Pisgah can be replaced.

Franklin County was awarded $3.4 million in December to upgrade its emergency services communication infrastructure.

Ricky Provost, director of Franklin County Emergency Services, told the Franklin County Board of Legislators on Thursday that, since the village owns Mount Pisgah, the county and the village will have to submit a joint proposal to reviewing agencies for approval before the project can move forward.
