Va. awards $3M for EMS computer upgrades

About 200 agencies across the state will get new computers for reporting EMS incidents

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Several local fire departments will soon have upgraded computers, thanks to grants from the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services.

The grants were awarded under the Virginia Pre-Hospital Patient Information Bridge Special Initiative Grant Program.

More than $3 million in grants was awarded to 199 agencies across the state.

The computers will be used for the reporting of incidents involving fire and emergency medical services.

The following departments in the Fredericksburg region were awarded grants.

Orange County

Orange County Department of Fire and EMS; 15 computers, $51,520

Fredericksburg

Fredericksburg Fire Department; three computers, $10,126.41

Spotsylvania County

Spotsylvania County Fire and Rescue; 24 computers, $88,378; Spotsylvania Volunteer Rescue Squad; four computers, $11,496

Caroline County

Caroline County Department of Fire and Rescue; 15 computers, $48,449.70

Westmoreland County

Colonial Beach Volunteer Fire Department, one computer, $3,800; Cople Volunteer Fire Department, two computers, $7,848; Montross Volunteer Rescue Squad, three computers, $11,772; Westmoreland County Department of Emergency Services, one computer, $3,992.50; Westmoreland County Fire Department, two computers, $7,848

Louisa County

Louisa County Department of Fire and EMS, 10 computers, $32,760.
