WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Kunkle Fire Company Inc. in Dallas Township has received $48,702 from the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The funding, which can be used for operations and safety training, was awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, designed to strengthen the health and safety of the nation's first responders and the communities they serve.

"Pennsylvania's firefighters endure risk and sacrifice every day to keep their community safe," stated U.S. Sen. Bob Casey, D-Pa., who announced the grant. "This money will help provide Luzerne County's firefighters with the resources they need to ensure their safety and the safety of those they serve."
