BOULDER, Colo. — The Lefthand Fire Protection District has been awarded a $325,715 federal grant to help pay for buying a new Class 1 firefighting vehicle, U.S Sen. Michael Bennet announced on Wednesday.
Chris O'Brien, Lefthand's deputy fire chief, said the western Boulder County fire district will put up about $30,000 to match the money from U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
O'Brien said in an interview that the federal funds will allow the district to buy a pumper tender that will replace a vehicle that's about 30 years old.
