SC health groups share $11M in grants

Money will fund scholarships and services for the uninsured and low-income communities

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Greenville Health System, the South Carolina Free Clinic Association and Greenville County EMS are among the groups that will share nearly $11 million in grants from the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation.

GHS will use the grant to fund scholarships for minority students to attend the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville to improve physician diversity, according to the foundation.

Free clinics statewide will use their funds to boost services for the uninsured, including medical and dental care, behavioral health, and prescription drugs.
