YORKTOWN, Va. — The York County Department of Fire and Life Safety will be able to buy new equipment thanks to a grant from the state of Virginia.

The state grant comes from the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Emergency Services Rescue Squad Assistance Fund, and will allow the county to purchase more than $120,000 worth of new medical equipment for five of the department’s ambulances.

According to a memo from County Administrator Neil Morgan, the grant will largely be spent on power loading fastening systems for the county’s existing stretcher equipment.
