W.Va. volunteer fire departments share $800K grant

The funds will provide financial support and assist with recruitment efforts for eight departments

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin and Shelley Moore Capito announced on Friday that the Berkeley County Fire Service Board received a grant of more than $835,000.

"This award for the Berkeley County Service Board will provide essential financial support and assist with recruitment efforts for eight volunteer fire departments and substations throughout Berkeley County,” said U.S. Senator for West Virginia, Shelley Moore Capito.

"To recruit volunteer firefighters and pay for their training and gear,” said Berkeley County Fire Board Administrative Director, Julie Rivard.
