AFG application dates announced on FEMA web site

Editor's note: Visit FireGrantsHelp.com for more info on the AFG, as well as helpful information and resources for putting together successful grant applications.

WASHINGTON — Applications to the Assistance to Firefighter Grants (AFG) can begin early next month, according to the official FEMA AFG web site.

Departments can submit applications from 8 a.m. ET, Monday, March 3, through 5 p.m. ET, Friday, April 4.

The dates are posted in the frequently asked questions section of Firegrantsupport.com.

The application period in 2007 began March 29, after being put back three weeks.

As with previous years, a series of workshops are already under way nationwide to support departments planning to apply for a grant.

Information will be presented on program changes, program priorities, eligibility requirements and on the application process. Also, general assistance in the writing of a competitive narrative for a department's grant application will be discussed.
