CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — In a crisis, timing is of utmost importance. Now, thanks to a $1,000 grant from Factory Mutual Global, the Castle Rock Fire and Rescue Department will be able to expand it's fire pre-plan drawing program for firefighters to use during emergencies.
The grant will pay for much needed upgrades to CAD Zone computer software, which is used to develop pre-plan drawings that include building layouts, fire hydrant locations, building construction types, fire protection systems and hazards firefighters may encounter on a particular building. The information in pre-plans can be used for tactical decision-making, fire-suppression strategies, incident mitigation and civilian and firefighter safety.
Firefighters will have access to the pre-plans from the laptop computers in the fire trucks. The plans are developed by firefighters.
