NFFF receives $1M grant for firefighter safety
The Associated Press
EMMITSBURG, Md. — Firefighter safety is the focus of a million-dollar grant from the federal Department of Homeland Security to the Emmitsburg-based National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
The project aims to save firefighters' lives by teaching them safety practices.
The U.S. Fire Administration said 115 firefighters lost their lives in the line of duty last year.
The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation was created by Congress in 1992 to honor those who die in the line of duty and to provide grief counseling to their families.
