Rural Fire Protection Grant Program- Arkansas |

Grant Details: Overview: Through the Arkansas Rural Community Grant Programs, the Arkansas Rural Development Commission (ARDC) and the Department of Rural Services strive to enhance quality of life in the state by providing incentive grants on a matching basis. The ARCGP will assist rural communities with the improvement of local fire protection and related emergency services and construction, development and improvement of local facilities. Eligiblity: Applicants from incorporated towns of less than 3,000 in population and unincorporated rural areas are eligible for up to $15,000 in matching funds under this program. The match ratio on the program is 50/50. Communities wishing to apply for projects under the program must provide one half of the cost of the project as match. Match may be comprised of in-kind labor, in-kind materials or cash and must be available at the time of application. Applications for this program are accepted August through March of each year. Communities in the past have received funding for new fire stations, additional bays for existing stations, turn-out gear, communications equipment, fire trucks, SCBA's, extrication equipment and brush trucks. Projects the are Eligible: Projects eligible for funding consideration under these programs include, but are not limited to: Arkansas Rual Community Fire Prtection Grant - Renovations, new construction or additions to fire facilities - Purchase of fire protection equipment and vehicles - Rehabilitation/retrofitting of newly acquired equipment and vehicles. Deadlines: Cycle I- August Cycle II- December Cycle III- March Applications for Fiscal Year 2011, Cycle III are being accepted through March 15, 2012 .
