Grant Details: Overview: California Fire Safe Council (CFSC) has been advised that the Grants Clearinghouse will receive $5 million in grant funds from the U.S. Forest Service State Fire Assistance program this fiscal year for the 2012 grant cycle. The Interior agencies are still considering possible funding to the Clearinghouse from fiscal year 2011 funds. Through the clearinghouse, organizations working in California and parts of Nevada can apply online for some National Fire Plan grants for eligible projects by writing one grant proposal that is then routed to the appropriate grant program(s). The Council's mission is to preserve and enhance California's manmade and natural resources byproviding leadership and support that mobilizes all Californians to protect their homes, communities and environment from wildfires. The Council accomplishes its mission through public education programs and by funding community fire safety projects. At this time the U.S Forest Service grant funds will require a 50% cost share/match ("dollar for dollar"). Grant applications with less than a 50% match will be accepted for the 2012 Clearinghouse; however we greatly encourage applicants to provide as high a match as reasonable. Grant Application Submission and Deadline: The deadline for online submission remains July 5, 2011 midnight for all applications, and postmarked by July 5, 2011 for Letters of Commitment packet and Fiscal Sponsor letters. As a reminder, in addition to submitting the online application, applicants are now required to mail to their regional Grant Manager a printed copy of their application(s) along with their Letters of Commitment packet. The California Fire Safe Council wants a back-up copy of your application in addition to the electronically submitted version. Mailing addresses for regional Grant Managers can be found at www.grants.firesafecouncil.org in the Resource Center.
