Description: 

The Volunteer Fire Assistance (VFA) program allows the Nebraska Forest Service to cost share up to 50 percent of the purchase of fire fighting equipment with Nebraska fire districts.

The 2011 VFA program is available for communities under 10,000 population which do not have adequate fire protection. If qualified a community may receive up to 50% cost-share toward the purchases:

- 2-way radios

- Protective clothing

- Breathing apparatus

- Fire fighting equipment
