WASHINGTON — Bill Webb, executive director of the Congressional Fire Services Institute (CFSI), will retire on Dec. 31, following a 30-year career with the organization. Webb announced his retirement at a reception for the CFSI National Advisory Committee today.
Webb collaborated with six presidential administrations and 10 U.S. fire administrators, according to a
statement from CFSI
. He helped launch the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program in 2000, championed the U.S. Fire Administration and National Fire Academy, and pressed Congress on fire safety, prevention and other public-safety priorities. Webb’s partnership with the Congressional Fire Services Caucus also kept the group bipartisan and effective, a legacy that will endure long after his exit.
CFSI President Jim Estepp praised Webb’s selfless leadership for fostering cooperation among Congress, federal officials and fire-service groups, calling him a pivotal figure whose guidance will be missed.
Estepp announced that Director of Government Affairs Michaela Campbell will serve as the next executive director.
“Throughout the years, Michaela has demonstrated herself to be a strong leader and effective voice for our nation’s fire services,” Estepp said. “I am confident that she will continue the legacy of strong leadership set by Bill Webb.”
