Detroit, Harper Woods land $700,000 in grants

More than half a million in AFG money will help Detroit buy firefighting gear

DETROIT — Fire departments in Detroit and Harper Woods will receive more than $700,000 in grants to help out firefighters.

U.S. Rep. Gary Peters announced Monday, the two cities would see funds from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.

Detroit has been awarded $661,647 and the Harper Woods department will receive $48,783.
