Federal spending bill increases funding for USFA, Volunteer Fire Assistance grant programs

WASHINGTON — President Biden signed H.R. 2471 , the FY 2022 Consolidated Appropriations Act, into law last week.

The bill contains $360 million each for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response grant programs, level funding from FY 2021, according to the National Volunteer Fire Council.

Further, the U.S. Fire Administration is funded at $53.21 million, an increase of approximately $3 million, and the Volunteer Fire Assistance grant program received $20 million, a $1 million increase.

According to a statement from the White House , H.R. 2471 provides full-year funding through September 30, 2022, for projects and activities of the federal government. Division N provides supplemental appropriations for fiscal year (FY) 2022 for Ukraine activities. Remaining divisions provide authorizations and extensions on a wide variety of government programs and activities.
