Fire dept. gets $977K grant to increase staffing

With departments already facing budget shortfalls, this grant is critical in keeping the community safe

WASHINGTON — The Euclid Fire Department has been given a federal grant amount of $977,469 to hire more firefighters.

The funds come from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) – Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Program.

The Euclid Fire Department was awarded this funding as part of round 1 of the competitive Fiscal Year 2014 AFG – SAFER program announcements.
