Fla. town's grant money set to expire

Nearly $9 million in grant money that saved more than 30 jobs, fire station runs out Aug. 13

LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. — Time is running out for the Lehigh Acres Fire Department. The grant money that saved more than 30 jobs and a fire station back in 2010 is set to expire this year.

Now, nearly two years later, we found out what impact it will have on the much needed services.

Across the street from Bill Shrout's home in Lehigh Acres, sits what he calls a lifesaver.

He says when he was having heart problems he was able to walk right on over to Fire Station 105.
