Grant helps Calif. fire department buy new SCBA

The $60,477 award will be used to replace old and malfunctioning SCBA that have reached the end of their service life

CAMBRIA, Calif. — Amid stepped-up efforts to prepare for and fend off a potentially catastrophic fire, Cambrians got some good news Thursday: the Fire Department has secured a $60,477 federal grant.

The money, earmarked for the Cambria Fire Department by the Department of Homeland Security, was announced in a news release by Rep. Lois Capps, D-Santa Barbara.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant will provide funds for self-contained breathing apparatus equipment, which provides firefighters with breathable air amid hazardous conditions.
