FLORENCE, Ala. — Several volunteer fire departments in Franklin County, Ala., will be able to make upgrades to their trucks and equipment, thanks to grants they recently received from the Franklin County Community Development Commission.

Brad Bolton, Sen. Larry Stutts’ appointee to the four-member commission, said grants were awarded to Burnout Volunteer Fire Department, Vina Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad, and Pleasant Site Fire Protection Authority.

“The volunteer fire departments are one of the main organizations that this commission was set up to help,” Bolton said. “By approving their grant requests, we are putting Franklin County tax dollars back to work in the community through the services they provide.”
