CRESTWOOD, Ill. — The Crestwood Fire Department recently received an $87,000 grant from the Department of Homeland Security.

The money will be used to buy state-of-the-art radio equipment for Crestwood firefighters, including 15 mobile radios for fire apparatus and ambulances, 22 portable radios with word display, and 40 programmable pagers for paid-on-call firefighters, according to a news release issued by the village's public relations firm.

The cost of the new equipment is $91,660, of which the village will have to pay only $4,660, the release said.
