MUNCIE, Ind. — Indiana American Water has awarded $600 to the Muncie Fire Department as part of its 2012 Firefighter Grant Program.

The program is awarding nearly $22,000 to 43 fire departments across the state, and was created this year to provide financial assistance to fire and emergency organizations serving customers in Indiana American Water’s service areas.

The program awards grants to provide personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handlingequipment, training materials and classroom programs.
