Mass. fire department gets $50K grant for gear

They're getting a power-lift stretcher that's battery-powered and can be used to lift a person who weighs up to 700 pounds

LUNENBURG, Mass. — The Fire Department has received a $50,806 grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program to purchase protective equipment and power-lift stretchers for ambulances.

Also, the department will purchase advanced protective equipment and training for all firefighters.

Fire Chief Patrick Sullivan said the grant is administered through Homeland Security and are available to fire departments across the country.
