Mich. fire dept. awarded $691K grant for recruitment

The department will hire six 24-hour shift firefighters

CLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. — “Our first responders are our true heroes and the heartbeat of our communities,” said Clay Township Supervisor Artie Bryson. “These men and women show up 24/7 and do whatever it takes to help and protect us.”

Bryson was proud to announce that Clay Township Fire Department is the recipient of a FEMA Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response Grant. The department was awarded $691,000 over a two-year period.

U.S. Rep. Candice Miller, who represents Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, commended the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for awarding the grant to the Clay Township Fire Department to help with recruitment and retention.
