North Baltimore dept. receives FEMA grant

The $135,000 grant will be used to buy air packs

North Baltimore News

BALTIMORE — North Baltimore Volunteer Fire Department has received a FEMA 2012 (AFG) grant for $135, 043 for air packs, according to Fire Chief Ted Francisco. This is 95% of the amount applied for. He made the announcement at the February 19 meeting of the North Baltimore Village Council.

The federal share is 95% or $135, 043 and the village will pay $7, 107, or 5%, Chief Francisco said.

The funds will be used to purchase 17 new packs, 17 extra air bottles, 12 extra face pieces, 2 Rit packs, 1 accountability system and fit tester, according to Chief Francisco.

"This new purchase (17 air packs)— will enable all the fire trucks to be supplied and everyone will have their own piece," Chief Francisco stated.

This is the third time the department has applied for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
