NY officials to approve grant search to fund new ladder truck

The nine-member council is likely to favor the mayor seeking a $810,000 grant to help offset the cost of the new ladder truck

KINGSTON, N.Y. — The Common Council will probably allow Mayor Shayne Gallo’s administration to seek grants that would help pay for a new ladder truck for the fire department when it meets Tuesday.

During a caucus of Democrats and the council lone Republican, Alderwoman Debbie Brown, R-Ward 9, there appeared to be support for the grant search. The full council is expected to meet 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall to decide on the grant-seeking proposals.

The nine-member council is likely to favor the mayor seeking a $810,000 grant to help offset the cost of the new ladder truck. The council’s Finance/Economic Development Committee has already recommended the grouping of grant application efforts including the one for the ladder truck be passed by the full council.
