NY volunteer department lands grant for extrication equipment

Oswego Fire Department was awarded a $38,000 AFG grant

OSWEGO, N.Y. — The Oswego Town Volunteer Fire Department will use a federal grant to purchase new extrication equipment to aid in car accidents and other emergency situations.

Rep. Dan Maffei (D-NY) announced today that the department will receive a $38,095 federal grant from the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program, which is administered by the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The grants are designed to help fire departments and other first responders improve equipment, vehicles and training.
