CALCUTTA, Ohio — Back injuries are some of the most common injuries suffered on the job by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). That's why employees of LifeTeam EMS were happy when they recently received new Stryker Power Cots through a Safety Intervention Grant from the Ohio Bureau of Worker's Compensation (BWC).

The purpose of the BWC's Safety Intervention Grant is to gather information about the effectiveness of safety intervention measures and share it with other employers in order to minimize future work place injuries. Employers receiving the grant agree to provide the BWC with data regarding the effectiveness of the equipment purchased through the grant.

The safety grant provides $3 for every $1 produced by a given employer, according to Robert Swickard, director of operations for LifeTeam EMS.
