Pa. department awarded grant for smoke detectors

SIPESVILLE, Pa. — Thanks to a grant, residents from several municipalities will receive free smoke detectors.

The Sipesville Volunteer Fire Co. has been awarded a federal grant throughFocus  on Fire Prevention Inc. to provide smoke detectors to families in Lincoln Township and parts of Somerset and Jenner townships.

Firefighter Marc Jackson said the department has until April to meet the goal of installing 200 smoke detectors, or the program will be discontinued locally.
