Town of Lysander, N.Y. — The Lysander Fire District was awarded a $391,592 state grant to help fund the North West Fire District, which was created earlier this year.

The Lysander Town Board and the Van Buren Town Board passed resolutions to dissolve their fire protection districts that were currently in place and to expand the current Lysander Fire District. The newly expanded Lysander Fire District, which will be known as the North West Fire District in January, eliminates the towns' responsibility for fire protection services, unites two fire departments and creates one fire district.

The Lysander Fire District now oversees the Lysander and Baldwinsville fire departments.
