  • AFG Assistance to Firefighters Grants

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) provides financial assistance directly to fire departments, nonaffiliated EMS organizations and State Fire Training Academies to enhance response capabilities to fire and fire-related hazards. The primary goal is to provide these organizations with training and equipment to meet firefighting and related response needs in local communities. AFG supports organizations that lack the tools and resources necessary to effectively protect the life and safety of the public and emergency responders to fire-related hazards.

While needs may be local, projects funded by the AFG program should enhance regional and national response capabilities. Successful requests will enhance firefighter safety, foster interoperability, improve operational efficiency and support community resiliency.
