CONESVILLE, N.Y. — Today, U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer (D-NY) announced that the Conesville Fire District has received a Community Facility Grant totaling $18,000 from the U.S. Department of Agriculture - Rural Development. The funding will allow the Conesville Fire District to purchase an All-Terrain Vehicle to be used to fight fires and emergency rescues.

"Our first responders put their lives on the line to keep us safe and it is essential that they have the best equipment available to save lives and protect property," said Schumer. "I applaud the USDA for giving our first responders the tools they need to perform their life-saving work."

The USDA Rural Development funding for the Conesville Fire District, in Schoharie County, is part of the USDA Rural Development annual budget. USDA Rural Development's mission is to increase economic opportunity and to improve the quality of life for rural residents. Rural Development fosters growth in homeownership, finances business development, and supports the creation of necessary community and technology infrastructure.
