Calif. fire department gets $1M grant for engines

After a 20 percent match by the city, the grant will pay for two new engines

STOCKTON, Calif. — The Stockton Fire Department was awarded a $1 million grant to fund the purchase of two new fire engines.

The FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant will help purchase these new engines in addition to the four the city approved last year, which are expected to go into service by May.

“This grant allows the Stockton Fire Department to begin the transition of providing contemporary fire and emergency medical services to the community,” said Chief Jeff Piechura.
