Firehouse Subs to offer $1M in grants

By Andrea Fox, EfficientGov.com

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation started in 2005 with disaster relief for Hurricane Katrina, and today funds public safety equipment and more through Firehouse Subs purchases nationwide and other Firehouse of America sources.

The foundation has awarded more than $24 million in grants to date.

For 2017, Firehouse of America will donate 0.13 percent of all purchases at all U.S. locations to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. This alone will result in a minimum donation of $1 million dollars, according to the Firehouse Subs website.

The foundation accepts applications quarterly from local governments, non-profit organizations and educational institutions for:

  • Lifesaving equipment
  • Public fire prevention education
  • Education and training scholarships
  • Disaster relief
  • Military members support

Example equipment awards announced this month include:

Applications are due March 2, June 2, Sept. 7 and Dec. 1.
