WELLSTON, Ohio — The Wellston Fire Department will receive $68,305 from the Federal Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant. Wellston is one of three Ohio recipients receiving funds from the grant.
Of the $197,584 awarded to Ohio fire departments, Wellston will receive $68,305 to be used to enhance its operations and improve safety precautions for area firefighters. The remaining money from the grant will go to the Albany Area Volunteer Fire Department, receiving $32,016, and to the Chester Township Fire Rescue, receiving $97,263.
All three Ohio recipients will use the funds for operations and safety improvements, which can include training, personal protective equipment, efforts to promote wellness and fitness and health, and safety modifications to stations and facilities.
